Where
have all the medals gone
Have you got a family medal from the Great War, or perhaps found
some WW1 medals in your shed? If so we want you to share your story
with us.
In the lead-up to ANZAC day [INSERT YOUR
PAPER] is running a competition to uncover the medals in
our community and the stories behind them.
As part of a national competition we want you to tell us about
the medals in your possession - from the stories about your relatives'
service, through to your chance discovery of hidden treasure or
your challenges as a collector.
Just write a short story and send it to us at [ADD
EMAIL AND/OR PO BOX]. If you have a picture of you or your
family with the medals we would like that also. It's all part
of keeping our community links to the ANZAC Spirit alive and well.
We will publish selected entries and all entries will be eligible
to win a fantastic Sands of Gallipoli limited edition commemorative
set valued at $195.00.
The limited edition set is part of the 2010 Sands of Gallipoli
range of collector's items. All items in the collection come with
a small vial of sand collected from the landing beaches at Gallipoli.
The Sands of Gallipoli commemorative products are available from
participating Australia Post outlets or online at Sandsofgallipoli.com.au
The first Sands of Gallipoli collection was released in 2004
and has since grown to become a national icon, helping people
celebrate and remember the ANZAC spirit.
This year the annual Sands of Gallipoli commemorative campaign
looks at the the Victoria Crosses earned on the Gallipoli battlefields.
10 ANZACs were awarded the Empire's highest decoration for valour
during this difficult campaign.
With the passing of the Last ANZAC, Alec Campbell, in 2002 Australia's
link to the ANZAC Spirit now depends of capturing the stories
and memories that have been passed down through the ages.
