AUSTRALIANS ENCOURAGED TO
BLOG ANZAC DAY EXPERIENCES
Australians are being encouraged to "blog"
their experiences this ANZAC DAY.
On ANZAC DAY people can go on-line at www.sandsofgallipoli.com.au
to share the emotions of participating in dawn services and parades
commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the Australian Landings
at Gallipoli.
"ANZAC DAY ceremonies unite Australians all
over the country", said Market Link Solutions' Managing Director,
Stephen Davie. "Internet technology allows us to bring together
in one place the individual experiences of thousands of Australians
who will attend this year's events".
The recently created web blog also allows Australians
to tell their personal and family wartime stories.
A web log or blog is an informal combination of
an on-line diary and a webpage. Blogging is a recent phenomenon
but young people were generally familiar with the technology.
Given the increase in the numbers of younger Australians attending
the Dawn Service in recent years, the concept would particularly
appeal to them.
Mr Davie said www.sandsofgallipoli.com.au was very
easy to use and it only took a few minutes for people to contribute
an entry. People have the option to tell their stories briefly
or in detail. They can also post a photograph or image on the
site.
Market Link Solutions produces the 2005 Sands of
Gallipoli memorabilia collection and has established the site
as a community service. It is free, has no advertising and is
moderated so people can feel confident in contributing.
The company plans to publish an electronic book
or E-Book of blog entries by Remembrance Day this November.
The Returned & Services League of Australia
(RSL) is a major beneficiary of sales of Sands of Gallipoli collectibles.
