Post Receives Sands
In a dignified ceremony last week the National President of the
RSL Major General Bill Crews handed over the 2005 Sands of Gallipoli
collection to an Australia Post representative.
The special anniversary Sands of Gallipoli collection
is available through participating Australia Post retail outlets
throughout Australia. It consists of lapel pins, key rings, medallions,
teaspoons and plaques which contain authentic sand from ANZAC
Cove. This year's collection commemorates 90 years since the landings
at Gallipoli.
Sharing the spirit of remembrance, community newspapers
beween now and ANZAC DAY are running "Bringing the Spirit
Home" competitions to encourage readers to share their family
wartime stories.
The best story will receive a limited edition set
of six medallions depicting the battles of at Gallipoli.
A 12.5% donation from Sands of Gallipoli sales goes
to the RSL to support its ongoing welfare work in the veteran
community. Last year the Sands of Gallipoli collection contributed
approximately $150,000 to the RSL nationwide.
